Alltop, which was inspired by Popurls, is a site that aggregates "all the top" stories and blog posts from Web sites on subjects such as politics, design, gaming, sports, autos, photography and "egos." You hover your mouse over a link for a summary, allowing you to consume a lot of content quickly. You could do this yourself with an RSS reader, of course, but Alltop saves you the effort and will likely introduce you to sites you don't know about.

I think Alltop is not only a great site but it's the future of news sites.
That doesn't mean all sites will just be a bunch of RSS feed blocks, but I would contend that the bulk of web users will not adapt to RSS feeds and using their own reader. However, this is a way to deliver news to them in way that lets them look over all the stories from the various sections in one place. Nice pick. I think people will come around on this one in the next few years.
I think you're right about that.
Newspapers have always been about aggregating information that you could get elsewhere if you wanted to make the effort, but most people rightfully don't want to make the effort. They want as much help as they can get finding what's interesting, and it doesn't have to be only what we produce.
We've been too slow to recognize that.
